Over the course of six years, Anberlin has established themselves as one of alternative rock's most exciting acts.  They've transcended that sound with New Surrender.  In fact, their latest album that shows the band reconcillin all of their seemingly disparate moods into a cohesive blend of music that will lull you to sleep with gentle harmonies one minute and shake you to the core via raw, distortion-drenched rock riffage the next.

Although the album retains the Anberlin sound that fans have grown to love, in many ways it's also an album of firsts that marks the next chapter in the band's illustrious history.  "The whole album is conceptualized around the theme of the new surrender in the sense that everyone in their lives has something they know they have to give up," says Christian.  "There's something that's holding each of us back from who we could become, so I think each song kind of tackles that theme of surrendering parts of life whether it's a person or a vice."

New Surrender is also the first Anberlin album to work the band's well-documented humanitarian efforts into the lyrics, which have included going to Kenya to teach about AIDS prevention or traveling to Calcultta, Indai, to educate the masses about the danger of human trafficking.

Appetite For Destruction
A Tribute to Guns N Roses

Friday, January 9th
9:00 PM (8:00 PM doors)
$8.00 advance / $10.00 door
Ages 18+

Dateline- Anytown,USA. Time-4:30 am. We find our heroes back at any random hotel in any random city -they all run together for a group of entertainers that average 200 shows and 60,000 miles a year on the road.

Notquiteaxl [Chad Atkins] has disappeared -in true GNR fashion. Notquiteduff and Notquiteslash are nursing a bottle of Jager in preparation for the next day's hangover. Notquiteizzy riffs out on the hotel room couch to Notquiteadler's [Mike Ropelewski] drum patterns played on phonebooks and cityguides.

Appetite For Destruction, the ultimate tribute to Guns N’ Roses, has lived this lifestyle since its inception in 2000. The current incarnation of the band (together since 2006) is still based around Chad Atkins' amazing voice. AFD travels the country delivering the most authentic tribute to Guns N’ Roses, circa 1987-1993, most will ever see.

Material is drawn from Appetite for Destruction through Use Your Illusion 1 and 2, including Lies, and The Spaghetti Incident? with stage banter derived from a variety of live shows and videos. Appetite For Destruction plays all the favorites – Sweet Child o’ Mine, Paradise City, Patience and many, many more.

In venues large and small, Appetite For Destruction has played to rave reviews for aural and visual authenticity. And they will continue until they have brought their rock and roll circus to every corner of the United States.

Let your little ones go wild at Asheville's Dance for babies, toddlers, and children.  Great family fun for a cold winter afternoon!

Swannanoa Valley Montessori School was founded six years ago by parents who sought a creative active learning environment for their young children.

From one classroom with twelve 3-6 year olds, SVMS has expanded to five classrooms, including a toddler class (ages 18 months-3 years), preschool classes (ages 3-6 years), and lower (1st-3rd grade) and upper (4-6th grade) elementary classes.  As a non-profit, board-run organization, Swannanoa Valley Montessori School depends solely on tuition and donations for all its operating expenses.

David Bromberg & Angel Band

Thursday, January 15th
8:00 PM (7:00 PM doors)
$18.00 advance / $20.00 door
Ages 18+

After several years of inactivity on the touring front, David Bromberg is beginning to reappear on the live concert scene. Bromberg has reunited the “big band” several times over the last few years and 2003 will see the band come together at least twice for two short runs early in the year. David is also beginning to play more with Jay Ungar and Molly Mason in their show titled “An Evening of American Acoustic Music”. This show creates an eclectic musical journey through several uniquely American music forms. The show features the early works of Stephen Foster, the Texas swing of Bob Wills, Cajun fiddle tunes, Delta and Chicago Blues, Bluegrass, Folk and much more.

Bromberg’s live show remains as unique as ever. Concerts by David and his band are extraordinary events, and performances follow no set pattern of selection. Give and take between performer is complete, spontaneous, and totally sincere. As the NY Times noted “He has such control of his audience that he can, at one moment, hold it in his hand with a tender, touching yet funny anecdotal song, and then set it romping and stomping with a raucous bit of raunch. He is electrifying.”

Steep Canyon Rangers

Friday, January 16th
9:00 PM (8:00 PM doors)
$14.00 advance / $16.00 door
Ages 18+

The Steep Canyon Rangers have carved out a special spot in the world of bluegrass music, creating a sound that looks forward and backwards at the same time. First formed in the stairwells and kitchens of Chapel Hill, NC, the Rangers arrive from varied musical backgrounds. On stage and in the studio, Woody Platt, Mike Guggino, Charles Humphrey, Nicky Sanders, and Graham Sharp have perfected their ensemble approach using fierce dynamics and seamless harmonies. The Rangers base their sound around a stunning catalogue of original songs, drawing on the sounds of early bluegrass, honky tonk, and blues.

In 2006 the International Bluegrass Music Association voted Steep Canyon Rangers the Emerging Artist of the Year. The past year also saw the title track 'One Dime at a Time' rise to #1 on Bluegrass Unlimited's National Bluegrass Survey. In October the Grand Ole Opry welcomed the Rangers for a debut performance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. On the heels of their recent success comes a third Rebel release 'Lovin' Pretty Women' produced by bluegrass heavyweight Ronnie Bowman and engineered by guitarist Wyatt Rice, affirming the band's arrival at the highest circle of acoustic music.

The Steep Canyon Rangers have built a reputation as a powerful, engaging quintet seasoned by constant touring. Their willingness to carry bluegrass to music-lovers worldwide has put the band on stage at Americana and Bluegrass festivals in the U.S. and overseas, as well as major Rock & Roll venues on the national jam-band circuit.

Cross Canadian Ragweed

Saturday, January 17th
9:00 PM (8:00 PM doors)
$15.00 advance / $17.00 door
Ages 18+

Cross Canadian Ragweed knows all about the ritual of keepin' on -- and leaving nothing in reserve. The Oklahoma quartet has been pushing it to the metal for 13 years, through four studio albums, an equal number of live sets and 260 or so nights on the road every year. They don't skimp. They don't compromise. They play, and live, with genuine abandon and wouldn't have it any other way.

"Man, there were never any other options but to stay together and play music," says frontman and songwriter Cody Canada. "We've always wanted to do what we're doing. We never thought we would be Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, but we always wanted to be around for along time.”

"We figure if we've been around for 13 years, we'll be around for 30."

The key is that Canada and company -- guitarist Grady Cross, bassist Jeremy Plato and drummer Randy Ragsdale -- keep doing it better each time out. The latest evidence of that is mission california.., the most ambitious and accomplished album CCR has made to date and a triumph by any musical measure. Its 14 tracks -- from roadhouse rockers like "Record Exec," "Smoke Another" and "Deal" to the buoyantly poppy "NYCG" and gentler moments such as "Dead Man," "Soul Agent" and "Lawrence," which features longtime friend LeAnn Womack -- find the group assured and upbeat, even when Canada's lyrics are attacking personal turmoil and music biz tribulations.

Nappy Roots

Nappy Roots is your favorite platinum-selling American alternative southern rap group that originated in Kentucky in 1995 and is best known for hits such as; "Awnaw" (Produced by Groove Chambers/ft Jazze Pha),” “Round Da Globe,” and “Po Folks.” Nappy Roots has accomplished so much early on in their careers with their first two album releases “Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz” and “Wooden Leather.” They were the number one selling hip-hop group in 2002, as well as won various award nominations. The group consisted of Milledgeville, Georgia native Fish Scales, Kentucky natives Skinny DeVille, B. Stille, Ron Clutch, Big V and Oakland, California native R. Prophet. The once major-label sextet is now a quintet running Nappy Roots Entertainment Group (known as NREG), their own record label. After the release of “Wooden Leather” the group decided to depart from Atlantic Records for various reasons including the record label’s politics. Sometime after that R. Prophet decided to leave the group in order to pursue his solo career.

After departing from a world that once embraced them as well as loosing a member of the group, the guys decided to continue making music independently and released several mix tapes such as interscope Music. After their experience with Atlantic, the group knew that they did not want to be on a major-record label again. Time coupled with an overwhelming amount of fan feedback allowed the group to realize that the demands of their loyal fan base were not being met. The guys now faced a dilemma and after heavy consideration the group decided to work towards turning their nonchalant talk about starting their own record label and releasing quality music into a reality. Shortly after the start of their pursuit, NREG was formed. After exploring various options the group unanimously decided to choose Fontana/Universal Records to handle the distribution for NREG. With the word vastly getting around about Nappy Roots making a comeback, yet another opportunity presented itself. Nappy Roots teamed up with Greg Street and agreed to have a dual-release of their first single “Good Day.” “Good Day” is due to be released on the group’s third album titled “The Humdinger” as well as on Greg Street’s second debut mix tape album titled “6 o’clock Sertified,” which is being distributed by Interscope Records.

With all of the different paths life could have taken the group, the guys feel that they are right where they are destined to be. The group’s drive and motivation is to continue putting out quality music as well as satisfy their loyal and very much appreciated fan base. Stay tuned because Nappy Roots is back and they aren’t going anywhere!

If you're searching for brutal and aggressive metal, you've met your match with Unearth. Combining elements of hardcore, thrash, and extreme metal - while also never overlooking the importance of thought-provoking lyrical ideas and concepts - Unearth has steadily become one of the leading lights in heavy metal. Look at the careers of all great metal bands, and there is a certain album that pushed the respective group to the next level. The March, the forthcoming fourth full-length from Unearth is bound to be that album for the band, as it contains all the expected elements from earlier Unearth classics, while also managing to drive their sound forward. Hailing from just north of Boston, Unearth originally formed in 1998 with a three-man core - singer Trevor Phipps, guitarists Buz McGrath and Ken Susi – and were subsequently joined by bassist John “Slo” Maggard. Derek Kerswill’s union with the band marks Unearth’s latest addition, resulting in what many consider to be the band’s most potent line-up of all. Over the years, Unearth has issued a steady stream of modern metal classics, including such full-lengths as 2001’s The Stings of Conscience, before signing with Metal Blade, and issuing 2004’s The Oncoming Storm. All the while, Unearth continuously crisscrossed the globe, becoming one of the hardest – and most consistent – touring bands in all of hard rock. Over the years the quintet has played in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, South America, Mexico, Japan, Europe including the Netherlands and their first ever headlining trip to Russia, and has appeared not once, but two times each on such renowned metal fests as Ozzfest and Download. They have also appeared on International festivals such as Rock Am Park, Rock Am Ring, Loud Park, Wacken and others. In the process, Unearth has toured alongside some of rock’s top names, including Slayer, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, and many others.

2007 was a year of transition and reinvention for our band, having been on the road almost constantly since the fall of 2001 a break was desperately needed. A little time at home to recharge and perhaps rethink some things.

The blurring of the lines between the personal and the musical has always been an integral part of what this band does and part of what sets it apart from the corporate music machines that dominate so much of pop-culture in the name of what used to be called Rock and Roll. That said, when things go wrong it can become an unbearable situation on levels both personal and artistic. Such is what led to the amicable and mutually desired parting of ways with Jason Isbell in the spring of 2007. He had been an integral part of our musical family for five years and three albums but personal and creative differences brought about the need for change.

Moving on after such a loss seemed at first a daunting challenge. Our band's survival instincts (much of what has kept mine and Mike Cooley's partnership alive and well for 22+ years) led us to strip everything down to the essential elements of song and rebuild it from scratch. This led to us booking and playing a semi-acoustic tour we named The Dirt Underneath where we would go out without all of the trappings and decorations of "The Big Rock Show" and put the emphasis on the songs and stories. It also gave us a chance to acquaint everyone with our dear friend John Neff. Neff was a founding member of our band who continued to play on our albums from time to time and he became a full-time part of the touring band a couple of years ago. He's an excellent guitar player but is best known for his amazing pedal steel abilities. His playing has graced acclaimed albums by Japancakes, The Star Room Boys, Barbara Cue and Lona among many others. During some troubled times, John's playing was one of the few things we could all agree on.
